In 1946, Zino Davidoff entertained the idea to launch an innovative cigar line that was created and crafted just like Bordeaux wines. Thus, the legendary line we know as Grand Cru today was born, named in reference to the world of wine. The unmistakably sophisticated Grand Cru blend springs from only the finest leaves from the most carefully selected fields and makes for mild and lightly floral cigars with a nutty finish. The Grand Cru No. 5 is perfect for lovers of Bordeaux wines with flavourful tannins. Grand Cru is best enjoyed during an apéro riche or after a heavy lunch.

Davidoff:
Davidoff’s story begins with Zino Davidoff, who was born in Kyiv in 1906 before his family moved to Geneva, Switzerland, where they opened a small tobacco shop. As a young man, Zino travelled through South and Central America to learn about tobacco cultivation and cigar making. When he returned to Geneva, he introduced new ideas to the shop, including ageing cigars in controlled humidors and educating customers about proper storage and enjoyment.
His philosophy centred on refinement, patience, and craftsmanship. Over time the Davidoff name became associated with carefully selected tobacco, elegant presentation, and a focus on balance and consistency. In the late 20th century the brand established production in the Dominican Republic, where skilled rollers and carefully aged tobaccos continue the traditions that Zino Davidoff helped shape in the world of premium cigars.
